
Greg Overstreet
Greg’s practice is focused on commercial and real estate litigation, homeowner association, municipal law, constitutional law, and financial institution matters. In addition to his practice with BKBH, Greg is also a member of the Montana House of Representatives where he is a member of the Judiciary Committee.
Commercial and Real Estate Litigation
Greg’s commercial and real estate litigation practice is focused on helping businesses resolve a variety of contractual and other disputes in an expeditious manner consistent with company objectives. He also represents clients in real estate litigation, often involving easements, covenants, and other property matters.
Homeowner Association Matters
In addition to his real estate litigation practice, Greg also represents clients in a variety of homeowner association matters.
Municipal Law
Greg serves as counsel to several municipalities. For example, he has worked on annexation and is assisting in the defense of a land use case against a town and created a resort tax ballot initiative for another.
Constitutional Law
Greg represents clients in a wide variety of constitutional law matters including land use, First Amendment cases, and constitutional challenges to statutes.
Financial Institutions
Before joining BKBH, Greg served as in-house regulatory counsel to a financial institution where he regularly handled matters involving the Truth in Lending Act, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, state banking laws, and Unfair Deceptive or Abusive practices. He is available to represent financial institutions on these and other industry matters that may arise.
Greg grew up in a small town in Washington state, and received a Bachelor’s degree in Russian and Eastern European Studies from the University of Washington in 1989. He received his Juris Doctrine degree from Seattle University in 1993, and was a visiting law student at Washington University in St. Louis. He also was an editor of the Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy.
His legal practice has included serving as in-house counsel to a state Attorney General, a public policy institute, a statewide trade association, a security and military contracting firm, and a financial institution. He has represented newspapers and litigated a wide range of industry-related matters.
Greg has written two legal treatises, one on the Montana laws of statutory interpretation and another on the Washington state Public Records Act. He also is proud to be an enrolled citizen of the Muscogee (Creek) Indian Nation.
In his free time, Greg enjoys rodeos, concerts, and ATVing. He and his wife live in Stevensville with their horses and assorted dogs and cats.
