Biographical Sketch Mr. Kaleczyc is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and the George Washington School of Law. He is a founding partner in Browning, Kaleczyc, Berry & Hoven, P.C. Prior to moving to Montana in 1982, he was Associate General Counsel of the Chamber of Commerce of the United States.
Mr. Kaleczyc has extensive experience in a wide variety of business, legislative, and regulatory matters, representing client interests before the United States Congress, the Montana Legislature, federal courts throughout the United States including the United States Supreme Court, and federal and state administrative agencies.
Mr. Kaleczyc's principal areas of practice include corporate law, commercial litigation in federal and state courts, government contracts, administrative law, and insurance law. He has also served as counsel to clients in disputes involving federal and state tax matters, including property tax disputes for industrial clients and disputes over the allocation and apportionment of income of taxpayers who operate in several states.
Mr. Kaleczyc is currently the chair of his firm's Commercial Group.
He is general legal counsel to the Montana Municipal Insurance Authority (MMIA), the group liability and workers' compensation self-insurance pools for Montana cities and towns. In this capacity, he oversees and coordinates general liability tort defense for the 127 Montana cities and towns which participate in the MMIA's group liability program. Currently, there are approximately 100 open litigation files, including civil rights claims brought pursuant to 42 U.S.C. §1983, errors and omissions claims against elected and appointed municipal officials, and a wide variety of general tort claims. He also serves as general counsel to the Montana Schools Group Insurance Authority, the workers' compensation self-insurance program for Montana school districts.
In 1993 State Auditor and Insurance Commissioner Mark O'Keefe appointed Mr. Kaleczyc as Special Deputy Liquidator for Glacier General Assurance Company in Liquidation.
