STATE OF MONTANA DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE Assistant Attorney General, MDOJ, Prosecution Services Bureau 2003 to March 2008 Helena, Montana
- Attorney responsible for prosecution of major felony cases in jurisdictions throughout Montana.
- Management of approximately 20 cases simultaneously, maintaining a trial and travel schedule while appearing locally for each case.
- Successful jury trial experience in the following types of cases:
- Capital homicide (killing of police officer);
- Homicide (Billings daycare operator causing death of infant by unauthorized administration of Benadryl- trial televised live nationwide on Court TV);
- Sexual assault and rape (minister of church in Livingston who raped/assaulted children in congregation), official misconduct (on the part of police officers) and intimidation (threats to kill prosecutor).
- Successful prosecution of numerous other homicides, acts of official misconduct (elected officials), drug offenses, forgeries, embezzlement, gambling violations, crimes involving unauthorized commerce in tobacco and theft of worker's compensation funds.

THE JUDICIARY OF THE STATE OF HAWAII Honolulu, Hawaii 2002 Investigator & Assistant to Chief Staff Attorney Tasked with statewide responsibility in a branch of government consisting of 1,800 employees of investigating allegations of theft, misuse of government property, equipment and time, harassment, and acts casting impropriety on the Judiciary.
- Duties included providing testimony, negotiation with Union representatives, and preparation and presentation of investigative reports for the Staff Attorney, Administrative Director of the Judiciary, Administrators of the Judicial Circuits and Chief Justice of the Hawaii Supreme Court.
- Further assigned to assist Chief Staff Attorney and 3 Assistant Staff Attorneys in their responsibility to represent the Judiciary as a branch of government.
- Expanded duties included providing research assistance to Court Administrators of the judicial circuits, responding to requests for assistance in the resolution of legal quest ions posed by Judiciary department heads, responding to requests for information from the Hawaii Legislature and the research and writing of formal opinions for the Chief Staff Attorney.
CITY & COUNTY OF BUTTE-SILVER BOW, Butte, Montana Deputy County Attorney, 1990 to 2001
- Prosecution of approximately forty felony criminal cases annually on behalf of the State of Montana and the City and County of Butte-Silver Bow, an incorporated political subdivision of the State of Montana.
- Provided civil counsel including litigation, court appearances, contract preparation and negotiation for agencies of local government including the Chief Executive, Council of City-County Commissioners, The Public Works Department, The Health Department. Personnel Department, The Zoning and Planning Department, and The Law Enforcement Department.
- Prosecuted criminal jury trials in cases of homicide, attempted homicide, aggravated assault, robbery, rape, theft, forgery and DUI.
- Prosecuted thousands of misdemeanor crimes before the City and Justice of the Peace Courts to include substantial hours of additional jury and bench trial experience.
- Provided counsel and investigative assistance to detectives, police officers, and drug task force agents during investigation of major crimes to include preparation of and analysis of search warrants, investigative subpoenas, surveillance, and negotiation with investigators retained by criminal defendants.
- Conducted inquests for the Coroner.
- Prosecuted Fugitives from Justice under the Uniform Criminal Extradition Act.
- Represented the State of Montana in mental commitment proceedings.
- Prosecuted juvenile offenders in substantial numbers before the Youth Court.
- Responded to and litigated Petitions for Post-Conviction Relief and Habeas Corpus Petitions made by convicted inmates.
- Investigated allegations of attorney crimes /misconduct upon appointment as an investigator for the Montana Supreme Court Commission on Practice.
