Joanne M. McCormack

Bio

Joanne McCormack was born and raised in the Chicago area and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in English from Loyola University of Chicago in 1989, summa cum laude, and her Juris Doctorate from Loyola University School of Law in 1994, magna cum laude. From 1994-2009, Joanne lived and worked in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, a resort community near Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Chicago, Illinois. From there, she regularly represented clients in both Illinois and Wisconsin legal matters. In 2009, Joanne joined BKBH and moved to Missoula, Montana. Joanne is a member of the bar in Montana, Illinois, and Wisconsin. Joanne’s principal areas of practice include Estate Planning, Wills, Trusts, Probate, Business Transactions and Real Estate Transactions.

 Joanne is located in the firm’s Missoula office.  She and her husband have three children (including twins) and live in Missoula.

Representative Matters

  • Assisting clients and their families in planning for death by creating Wills & Trusts designed to implement their goals and save estate taxes.

  • Planning for clients’ possible future mental disability by creating Financial Powers of Attorney, Health Care Powers of Attorney, and Living Wills.

  • Advising Personal Representatives (Executors) and Trustees in routine legal paperwork to implement the client’s plans after death.

  • Working to resolve family conflicts to ensure that probate estates are closed efficiently and to the satisfaction of all family members.

  • Representing new business owners to set up their company with a legal entity such as a Limited Liability Company or Corporation including drafting and negotiations of agreements between business owners.

  • Designing, reviewing, and negotiation of contracts in a variety of fields and industries.

  • Assisting business owners in the purchase, sale or merger of their business.
